Professor Zijun ZHANG and Professor Minghua CHEN have successfully secured four extramural competitive research grants totaling HK$8.37M in the 2nd quarter of 2023.
The School of Data Science (SDSC) was awarded HK$5.5M for seven research projects as part of the 2023/24 General Research Fund (GRF) and Early Career Scheme (ECS) announced by the Research Grants Council (RGC), plus another two projects in collaboration with CityU scholars.
2 research topics - Automatic Network Search Optimization for Complex AI Models Under Carbon Efficiency Constraints & Research on Sequence Recommendation Modeling Based on Heterogeneous Behavior Perception and Multi-interest Learning
In the work, the SDSC team develops a path-opening approach to minimize carbon footprint in timely transportation of electric heavy-duty truck operation, which is essential for sustainable trucking but is challenging due to its non-convexity, deadline and battery constraints, and combinatorial nature. Their developed efficient solution comes with strong performance guarantee and reduces up to 28% carbon footprint as compared to baseline alternatives...
The award-winning research proposal seeks to identify and quantify factors that impact scientific success, aiming to build a machine learning network-based prediction model that helps to predict a team’s future success based on the history of the individual and collaborative success of team members involved.
