The Department of Data Science (DS) has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing HK$6.5 million in funding for seven cutting-edge research projects under the 2025/26 General Research Fund (GRF) and Early Career Scheme (ECS) announced by the Research Grants Council (RGC).

Professor Xiangyu ZHAO, Assistant Professor of the School of Data Science, receives HK$7 million from the RGC Research Impact Fund 2023/24 (including a matching fund of HK$2.1 million provided by CityU) for his project entitled “Integrating ChatGPT with Search Engine Recommender System and Online Advertising to Enhance User Experience on Online Service Platforms”.
A research team comprising two co-leaders from SDSC - Dr. Xinyue HE and Mr. Junyan SU entered a national competition – “The 1st Low-Altitude Economy Flight Management Challenge 首屆低空經濟智能飛行管理挑戰賽” and successfully notched up the 2nd prize for their project entitled “LEAP: Low-altitude Express AI Pilot”.
