Miss Jill LEUNG Chiu-yee, a master student of the School of Data Science who is supervised by Professor ZHAO Xiangyu (SDSC) and Professor DONG Liang (SEE), won the championship (Postgraduate Session) of her innovative project entitled ‘Blockchain-based Carbon Footprint Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) Tool” in IET Young Professionals Exhibition & Competition (YPEC) held on 15 October 2023.
Professor Yining DONG, Assistant Professor of the School of Data Science, has been awarded the Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Hong Kong and Macau) by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for 2023.
Professor Zijun ZHANG and Professor Minghua CHEN have successfully secured four extramural competitive research grants totaling HK$8.37M in the 2nd quarter of 2023.

In the work, the SDSC team develops a path-opening approach to minimize carbon footprint in timely transportation of electric heavy-duty truck operation, which is essential for sustainable trucking but is challenging due to its non-convexity, deadline and battery constraints, and combinatorial nature.
